In mid-2015 I had finally gotten “the hang of” motherhood but had lost all things fitness and health along the way. I tried running but was frustrated with my progress. Before my pregnancy, I was an avid runner. I loved running long distance and had completed my first full marathon. But with a baby it was hard to be out for long amounts of time running, so I was looking for something different.
I chanced upon Cassey Ho and blogilates in the most random way. There was a flyer at my front door advertising a Pilates class. I looked up the price and it was not affordable for a stay at home mom like me. So I went online, googled ‘pilates’ and found blogilates. I started off with the beginner’s calendar and the #journeytosplits challenge – and the rest was history.
Well, actually my body ached for literally 10 days straight. I ached in places I didn’t know I could ache but I loved the challenge and it was fun. What got me was the fact that I was trying moves and workouts I have never tried before. I was seeing progress and I was getting stronger. Best of all, I was having fun and I was actually waking up each day looking forward to working out!
Needless to say, all I thought about, talked about and instagrammed about was blogilates and her format POP Pilates. When she opened the POP Pilates Online Workshop (PPOW), training for those who were living internationally and wanted to be certified to teach POP Pilates, I was ecstatic. This was another avenue for me to share this new found love and passion of mine. Not to just talk about it but to be able to teach it!
Of course, at that time I didn’t feel ready to teach yet but I worked hard because I wanted to be able to be fit enough to work out and talk at the same time. My goal was to sign up for the PPOW at the end of 2016 but in June of that year my husband and a bunch of friends (who knew how “obsessed” I was with blogilates and that I wanted to be certified) chipped in and gave me the gift to sign up to train and be certified! I was excited and a nervous wreck! And, OMG, 3 months later I was officially a POP Pilates instructor! P.S. PIIT28 (another format created by Cassey HO) played a huge part in building up my fitness and confidence to actually click that signup button.
It’s crazy, just crazy, how you could love and want and be so passionate about something you didn’t even know was in you. I mean I NEVER EVER dreamed or imagined I would be “fit”, love working out and be a certified instructor. It’s just…when I think about it, I still pinch myself and shake my head but I couldn’t imagine it any other way. It’s amazing where life leads you if you just open up yourself a little – believe in yourself a little.
It’s so cool (imo :P), that I can officially teach something I love!
