In 2016 I met Cassey Ho for the first time and when I heard that she was coming to Singapore once again I was ecstatic!! I was so happy to have gotten to do POP Pilates with her and take a picture with her. It was just a few seconds of meeting her and giving her a little gift but it was a moment that has always stuck with me.
The Fitness Fest SG was a 2-day event. I was only able to go on the second day but I was still hoping to meet her just one more time and take another picture with her for memories sake. Little did I know how different this event would turn out to be from the last time….
This event was a paid event and so some of us POPsters made a whatsapp group so that we could buy tickets as a group and also of course to meet up. We were in touch and anticipating this weekend for quite a while. And it was exciting because we would have som POPsters coming from abroad!
I missed the first day which was the most happening day but when I came on the second day the girls were so nice and friendly it was as if I didn’t miss anything. I missed doing POP Pilates with Cassey Ho on the first day but the second day she was doing PIIT28 and that was exciting because it was her first time to do a live mass PIIT28 workout.
These were pics before doing PIIT28 with Cassey. It was so hot when I arrived but right before it was time for PIIT it started raining and pouring like mad. Those of us at the sides (I was one of them) had to workout in semi flood and we all got soaked but it didn’t stop us.
It didn’t end in that final picture…In our chat group we had tried to ask Cassey if she could join us for dinner but I didn’t think it would be on and I totally understood that she would be really busy. Apparently Chloe and Marielle actually knew that they would be able to join us for dinner so for the greatest surprise to the rest of us while I thought I would be having a grand time with the POPsters the cherry on the top was that Cassey and Sam would be joining too!
I had always imagined meeting her and talking over a meal and I can’t believe that that dream actually was happening at that moment. We walked to eat at the hawker center at the Singapore flyer. Ate, talked, took pictures, talked some more. Afterwards, some of them brought Cassey and Sam to eat dessert. It was a night where my stomach and heart was full.
This was my recap, mostly in pictures, just for me to remember that dreams do come true. That there are beautiful souls and magical moments out there. Before I sign off let me leave you with what this day really meant and what I’ll remember from it:
A bunch of the girls had already met and hung out the first day and even stayed at the same hotel. But when they saw me I didn’t even feel one bit left out or “left behind.” We saw each other, we hugged, we talked, we laughed. I was the only Mom with a kid there and I was worried about how I would handle my son on my own but they were all so helpful. Helping me carry my mat, bag and even offered to carry my 12kg son and entertain him. I was also out of battery (for the most important time in my life hello!) But they let me borrow their external batteries. I was so grateful for them.
Finally, my most beautiful takeaway is that we had never met before (some only online) but when we did it was as if we knew each other for so long. When it was time to say goodbye it was so hard to do as if we had been hanging together forever. And I know that when we meet again, it will be as if we had never parted.
As what Cassey Ho said in her instagram post (btw second dream come she put the picture of us in our PIIT28 shirts on her instagram!!) “FRIENDSHIPS CAN BEGIN ONLINE, BUT THEY CAN FLOURISH IN REAL LIFE.” This is the truth and beauty of our POPster community. It’s real and everyone is welcome to experience it.
