Goal accomplished! I ran the 10Km I set out to run at the beginning of the year! This 10K is a big deal for me because it is my first 10k in almost 3 years.
*Update! I got the official results and my official finishing time is 41:54 and I finished in 720th place out of 1475.
I signed up. I made it! And I finished my first race in almost 2 years! I was expecting the worst: My baby would get sick, my husband would have a last minute meeting, I would get lost on the way or I would be late… But none of that happened and I am one happy Momma runner!
This is my second time to run the Venus Run. The last one was in 2013. This is one of the few all womens race and the few if not the only 5km race in Singapore. Today the race so happened to fall on Woman’s Day too. The race took place at Marina Bay Garden East on Sunday, March 8, 2015.
Here’s my recap of Venus Run 2015 in pictures and words:Continue Reading
I am so excited to announce that I have registered for my first race in almost 2 years (what??!)! Continue Reading
I had a goal to run faster at the beginning of the year. It’s ok to change the goal a bit right? I mean I still have a goal at least …hehehe.
Well, in all honesty I’m finding it really hard to run faster. I just don’t know how. I think I need a schedule or program to follow and I’m still looking for it. Anyone care to help?
In the mean time because I wasn’t reaching that goal I was getting really discouraged and it made me drag my feet out for runs when it wasn’t supposed to be that way! I was finding running a drag and a chore and beating myself up (mentally) for being such a turtle… I really didn’t like where this was going.
So, my new goal is to just get out there. For the rest of the year and I pray for my whole lifetime I want running to be something consistent in my life. PR or no PR, fast or slow I will still get out and go for a run.
I will run because I can.
I will run because I have come so far.
I will run because I love me more when I run.
I will run because it clears my mind.
I will run because running has changed my life and I don’t want to go back to the old me.
So this week I got myself out a few times without my Garmin watch and it just feels good to not care about my speed and timing and all that for now. I just need to build up my motivation and go back to how I really started my love for running.
As a school teacher who is on school break what do I do? I go for a run in the morning! My husband and I ran from our place to Kranji Memorial which was around 10Km. He loves history and so we hung out there for an hour.
I also tested out my 2XU shirt and wore it on the run. I like the shirts that are long and can cover my backside when I’m wearing the compression pants hahaha.
The run starts at 5.30am in a week and half! Woooo! I have a feeling I’ll be limping afterwards but I’m looking forward to it:D

There are firsts for everything. The Venus Run was my first all women’s race and my first 5km race. It was my first race that had a warm up ( I think other races had warm ups but I may have missed it because I usually arrive “just on time”).
I signed up with a friend and I met up with her before the sun rise of course and we made it 40 minutes before flag off at 7.30am.
I was also able to meet a friend I studied with since high school. After so many years we finally met up and I was reallly happy to meet her.
I then ran into another friend who comes to the same church as I do but we both didn’t know we would be running that same race! So we had breakfast together after.
Basically, running can be a fun social gathering. 😀
I LOVED and ENJOYED the event. It started on time it was not crowded or hectic. I think it was well organized. They had some food stalls and a small bazaar which I did not get to enjoy as I had another appointment.
Well, let me tell you more about the race through pictures:
We had our warm up around 10-15 minutes before flagging of. There was an instructor on a small stage they put up.Photo Credit Running Shots
We took off and ran and ran and ran 5km. The route was one loop starting at Marina Barrage and ending there running at the park across from it. I forgot what the park’s name is. It’s part of the garden. Darn, what’s the garden’s name?
I’m obviously so happy to be done. And happy to be hydrating myself.
I love love love the feeling of just being so sweaty!!!
I haven’t been running regularly as I should and now my legs are aching as if I ran 30km or something. But just getting out there and just doing it makes me realize how much I’m missing out and not to be such a lazy bum!!
Yay! We did it! My high school friend and her friends.
How are your legs feeling the day after? 😛 Nothing compared to the feeling of finishing something you thought you couldn’t right???!

Just me being silly…
I had a positive experience and I would definitely join this event when they have it again.
Gahhhhhh!! 2XU Half Marathon coming up in a few week better get serious about my training (like weeks ago!)
