My first organized run for 2013! And it was awesome 🙂
A group of friends from church who meet every Sunday to run, signed up for the run. I didn’t plan to join until the last minute. The nice thing is you can sign up for the race even on the day itself.
Because it is a charity run there was no official timing or bibs or even price. You could donate however much you want and still join the event. If you wanted the official shirt then you needed to pay a certain price for it.
I was slow and pretty out of shape because I ended up walking alot. I also got so hungry by the 7Km mark and I hate running when I’m hungry aarrggghh!! I started walking but a stranger tapped me on the shoulder and encouraged me to keep running so I ran with him as a pacer and closed the distance with other runners who joined us too. Thank you stranger for your encouragement!
My stomach wasn’t disappointed. There were huge home-baked cookies for everyone! There was free flow of iced milo and coffee and tea from Starbucks. Of course there was bananas and water as well.
Oh yes, the race started at 8 am. There was the 5km and 10km route at East Coast Park.
